- 90 daysno-fee return visit if the same fault comes back

In short: most premium dishwasher calls are a drain that backs up, a slow fill, water in the base pan that trips the leak protection, water that never gets hot, a door that no longer balances under its panel, or a control that stops answering. Many drain and fill complaints start under the sink.
The dishwashers we repair
Premium dishwashers look alike from the front, so the brand and generation come first.
- Miele. From the older G 600 and G 800 through the G 7000, 18 and 24 inches wide. See Miele dishwasher repair, Miele error codes and Miele not draining.
- Cove. Panel-ready and stainless models. See Cove dishwasher repair.
- Thermador, Bosch Benchmark and Gaggenau. All three come from BSH and share much of their engineering. See Thermador and Gaggenau repair.
- Fisher & Paykel. Single and double DishDrawers, each drawer a small dishwasher of its own. See DishDrawer repair and DishDrawer codes.
- Asko, Monogram and JennAir built-ins, which often come with the house. See Monogram and JennAir.
Open the door and look along its side edges or the tub frame for the label with the model and serial number. Send us a photo when you book and we can check parts first.
Finished front, panel or fully hidden
The same machine often comes in three builds. A finished front has stainless or a factory color and a door weight fixed at the factory. An integrated model shows a strip of controls above your panel. A fully integrated model, such as a Miele with Vi in the name, hides the controls on the top edge of the door, where escaping steam can reach them.
The door springs are chosen for the weight of the panel and go in as a matched pair. A heavy panel, or a new cabinet front from a remodel, is the usual reason a door drops open or creeps shut. Spring strength varies by model and by panel, so the model number matters even for a door job.
What premium machines do differently
- A leak sensor in the base. When water reaches the base pan, a float or wet sensor closes the inlet and runs the drain pump. A Miele from the G 1000 on shows F70 and keeps pumping even when switched off, until it is unplugged or the base pan is dry; a G 600 or G 800 pumps only while on with the door closed. A DishDrawer shows F1.
- Heat inside the pump. Miele from the G 1000 on, and many Bosch and Thermador machines, heat the water in the circulation pump housing. A heating fault can mean a pump and heater assembly, so we test the relay and sensor first.
- A water softener. Miele and several other European machines use dishwasher salt. With Orange County's hard water, an empty salt reservoir leaves film on glasses and scale on the heater.
- Doors that open themselves. Miele's AutoOpen and similar features open the door a few inches at the end to release steam. That is a feature, not a latch fault.
- Very little water. These machines wash with so little water that foam from hand soap or the wrong detergent can stop a program with a code.
Is it the machine or the house?
These are the first things we separate:
| What you notice | Often under the sink | Often in the machine |
|---|---|---|
| Water standing over the filter | A new disposal with its knockout plug still in, a clogged air gap, a kinked hose | Packed filters, a stuck check valve, a pump jammed by glass or a pit |
| Slow fill or an intake fault | A half-closed supply valve, low pressure, recent plumbing work | A scaled inlet screen, a worn inlet valve or protected hose |
| Dirty water in a machine that was off | A drain hose with no high loop or air gap | A check valve that no longer closes |
| Cloudy glasses, white film | Hard water, detergent dosing, no softener salt | A softener that stopped regenerating, or water that never gets hot |
On the visit we run the drain hose into a bucket. Within a minute that shows whether the pump is pushing water. If it is, the blockage is in the house drain, and we say so.
How we work in a finished kitchen
- Front first. Filters, spray arms, seals, springs, hinges, the latch and the door-top controls are reached with the door open or the toe kick off. The panel usually stays on.
- Out only when needed. Pumps, the heater, the base pan and most hidden leaks are reached from below. Water and power off, floor covered, feet wound up and the panel kept clear of the cabinets beside it.
- Seals and hoses go in clean, with nothing on them that could get into the wash water or the electronics.
- Back in place. Re-anchored, leveled, panel gap matched, and a short program run with the toe kick off.
The faults we see most
Not draining
What it usually is: once the filters are clean, a drain pump that has failed or is jammed, or a check valve held open by debris. Two recent jobs: an E25 on a Bosch that came down to the drain pump in Newport Beach, September 2026, and an Asko that would not drain in Irvine, October 2026.
What you can check: with the dishwasher switched off, rinse the filters. Then run the disposal for a few seconds and clean the air gap cap on the sink.
What we do: the bucket test, then the pump, the check valve and the hose to the sink.
Water in the base, pump running, no fill
What it usually is: the leak protection tripped by a door seal, a pump or sump seal, a hose joint, or foam from the wrong detergent. Now and then a sensor reports a leak that is not there.
What you can check: switch off at the breaker, close the supply valve, dry the floor. Do not tip the machine; it hides where the water came from.
What we do: find the source with the covers off, replace the seal or hose, dry the pan and prove the joints dry.
Water not heating, dishes wet
What it usually is: the heater or its relay, the temperature sensor, or the switch that allows heat only once water circulates, which foam fools. Empty rinse aid and eco programs explain many wet loads with nothing broken.
What you can check: top up the rinse aid, run the hot tap first, try a normal program.
What we do: measure the water temperature through a cycle and test the heater, relay and sensor.
Poor washing
What it usually is: spray arm holes blocked by seeds or glass, a weakened circulation pump, a pump seal stuck after months in a closed-up house, or a diverter that no longer switches between arms.
What you can check: rinse the spray arms and turn them by hand.
What we do: check the pump and diverter, and free a stuck seal before replacing anything.
Dark controls, or a program that will not start
What it usually is: a control lock that looks like a dead panel, a door switch, steam damage to door-top controls, or a failed board.
What you can check: the breaker or GFCI, the lock setting, and that the door seal sits in its groove.
What we do: check the stored faults, test each board and the cable between them, and change only the part that failed.
Repair or replace a premium dishwasher
Repair usually wins well past ten years: the tubs are mostly stainless, parts stay available for years, and a new machine means refitting your panel to a door that may differ in height or hinge position. Replace when the board is no longer made, several major parts are worn at once, or the kitchen is being redone.
What luxury dishwasher repair costs
The $79 visit pays for the trip and for finding the fault, and it comes off the repair once you approve the written price. That price holds once work starts.

Repeat customers save 15% on the repair, seniors and veterans 20%. Every table is on the pricing page.
How a visit goes
- Call or book online. Tell us the brand, the code or lights, and where the water is. Max, the owner, picks up.
- Diagnosis at your sink, usually same-day or next-day Monday to Saturday, depending on the schedule: under-sink plumbing first, then the machine.
- A written price before any work, with the lead time. Common parts are on the van; a brand-specific pump or board usually takes a few business days.
- Repair and a test run with every joint checked dry.
- Covered after. Parts and labor carry our warranty; if the same fault returns within 90 days, that visit has no service-call fee.
Or write to us on the contact page. See also built-in refrigerators, wall ovens and all services.

Luxury dishwasher repair: questions
Which dishwasher brands do you repair?
Miele, Cove, Thermador, Bosch Benchmark, Gaggenau, Fisher & Paykel DishDrawers, Asko, Monogram and JennAir, across Orange County from Irvine. We are independent, not affiliated with any of these makers.
Do you repair Miele dishwashers in Orange County?
Yes, from the older G 600 through the G 7000, including fully integrated Vi models. We are open Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, closed Sunday.
Will you have to take my custom panel off?
Usually not. Most work is done from the front or from below with the panel left on. When a spring or hinge job needs it off, the panel is supported, refitted and lined up with the cabinets.
My dishwasher will not fill and the drain pump keeps running. Is the pump broken?
Usually not. That is the leak protection reacting to water in the base pan. Switch off at the breaker and close the supply valve until the leak is found.
Do you repair Cove dishwashers?
Yes. Cove is Sub-Zero Group's dishwasher, often chosen to match Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. We repair panel-ready and stainless models, in place where we can. Its common faults are on the Cove dishwasher repair page.
Is a 12-year-old premium dishwasher worth repairing?
Usually, if the part is still made. A discontinued control board is what tips it toward replacing.
